Omnicom Media Group MENA has announced a number of promotions and appointments at its UAE and Saudi operations. These not only reward past performance but are also designed to ensure the media communications holding and its operations are best placed to deliver further growth in the future.
Shadi Kandil has been promoted to CEO of OMD MENA from his current role as MD of OMD UAE. His performance over the last few years can only be described as phenomenal. In his new regional role, he will lead the growth of the OMD network, continue the enhancement of its offering across the various disciplines and consolidate its creative heritage. Supported by a strong regional team, a dedicated leadership for the Lower Gulf and Abu Dhabi, and on the luxury side by OMD-Strategies, Kandil is destined to take the group to new heights.
Choucrallah Abou Samra takes on the well-deserved position of CEO at Omnicom Media Group Saudi Arabia. Over the last few years, Abou Samra has solidified the holding’s leadership position in both Jeddah and Riyadh across its two brands. Both operations in this vital market have grown steadily despite the recent political and economic difficulties, thanks to the consolidation of a long list of established client partnerships. In this new role, Abou Samra will realize his vision for growth by pioneering new initiatives in a market witnessing a rapid growth in terms of digital consumption and internet penetration.
Currently its regional executive director-group development, Hisham Abi Nassif takes on the new role of Chief Growth Officer at Omnicom Media Group MENA. As his new title indicates, Abi Nassif’s additional focus will be to drive growth for the group across three key pillars: identifying and driving strategic opportunities for new business, working even more closely with Omnicom’s creative agency partners to grasp common growth opportunities and assess opportunities in new markets with the regional CEO.
OMD UAE welcomes a new GM, Nadim Samara, currently the Business Intelligence Director US & Global at OMD New York. He is actually not new to the region, as he first worked at OMD in Dubai back in 2002. He quickly rose to assume account directorship before heading to work with OMD NY in 2007. There, Samara drove key global client relationships, including Pepsico, and was involved on Visa and Hershey's. He has worked on various OMD systems and models, with a focus on driving clear business ROI metrics, and recently completed his executive MBA program at Cornell University. Based in Dubai and reporting to Shadi Kandil, Samara will play a crucial role in differentiating OMD’s product and strengthening its competitive positioning locally and regionally.
Firas Ghazal is being promoted to Deputy GM of OMD Dubai. His impressive rise over the last nine years saw him grow from insights, first at OMD and subsequently “Integral”, to planning and account management. Over the years, he also demonstrated a strong will and the determination to succeed in the long term. Truly exemplifying OMD’s values and spirit, Ghazal exudes passion and radiates excitement around him, traits that will serve him well in his new role.
“All our operations have performed very well over the last few years even when conditions weren’t optimal. These management changes illustrate the confidence we have in the talented professionals who manage our operations in the region,” explained Elie Khouri, CEO of Omnicom Media Group MENA. “They also reflect our ambition to grow further still and keep stimulating our clients’ performance with even more advanced services and systems. Together with our deeply talented teams, Shadi, Choucrallah, Hisham, Nadim and Firas will prove unstoppable.”
