TechCrunch Hosts First Ever Startup Battlefield in MENA

Biggest start up competition in the world will take place in Beirut Digital District in partnership with FBstart

The first TechCrunch Startup Battlefield in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), presented by FBstart, will be hosted on October 3rd 2018 in the heart of the vibrant startup ecosystem at Beirut Digital District (BDD).

TechCrunch Startup Battlefield, whose alumni community of 763 companies have raised over $8 billion, will be bringing early stage startups together across the region including Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Algeria and others.

The Battlefield will present start-ups the opportunity to compete and win a $25,000 prize, as well as being exposed to a big global investment community. Additionally, two members from the winning startup will receive an all-expenses paid trip to participate in a future TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco.

Mike Butcher, Editor at Large, TechCrunch said “We are looking forward to bringing TechCrunch Startup Battlefield to Beirut for our first event in the Middle East and North Africa. The startup and tech scene in the region is moving incredibly quickly and we are excited that Startup Battlefield might just find the world’s next unicorns.”

Ari Kesisoglu, Vice President, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at FBstart said: “As Facebook we recognize the potential of entrepreneurial talent in the region and we want to help them develop their digital skills, so they expand their businesses and create new jobs. When the startup community and small businesses grow our economies, our communities, and all of us benefit. That’s why we are very excited about TechCrunch Startup Battlefield MENA.”
