Marmum extends support to 'Smile on the Face' campaign

Marmum Dairy, a subsidiary of Dubai Investments (DI) and a leading dairy brand in the UAE, has teamed up with the Community Development Authority (CDA) to offer labourers in Dubai wholesome and delicious Iftar during Ramadan

The 'Smile on the Face' campaign launched on 27 July distributes Iftar meal boxes on every Friday of the Holy Month. The campaign is set to reach over 10,000 labourers in Dubai by the end of the month of fasting. The initiative will conclude on 17 August.

Each meal box contains food, water, juice, and fruits. In addition, the package also offers toiletries such as soap, shaving kit, shampoo, talcum powder, cream, body lotion and toothbrush.

As part of its humanitarian activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Marmum has also partnered with the Human Appeal International (HAI) to supply dairy products to over 2,500 families and orphans in the UAE.

To date, Marmum has distributed laban, juices and natural yoghurt through its participation in the two campaigns.

Waeel Barhaji, Deputy General Manager, Marmum Dairy Farm, said, "We feel extremely fulfilled to extend such gesture that provides food, as well as grooming essentials to those that most need them. It is a gratifying experience to see the smile on the faces of workers at labour camps and the families in need. In the fast moving world that we live in, it is such initiatives that make a difference. We, at Marmum, hope to continue offering our support to 'Smile on the Face' campaign and the Human Appeal International for many more years to come."

Dr Omar Al Muthanna, CEO of Social Regulatory and Licensing Sector and Acting CEO of Social Care Sector, CDA, said, "The Smile on the Face' campaign is an ideal way for corporates to give back to the society. The labourers in Dubai are provided with basic necessities in the special Iftar packages. The UAE's Community Development Authority will continue to host programmes that help a cross-section of people in Dubai. We are particularly proud that a number of dedicated CDA employees volunteered to pack the toiletries, load and unload packages, and distribute the Iftar meal boxes."

The Community Development Authority (CDA) is an entity of the Government of Dubai responsible for developing frameworks for social development. The 'Smile on the Face' activity is organised as part of CDA's Honour Labour initiative to ensure the welfare of labourers through schemes that can be sustained for longer durations.

Human Appeal International is a non-profit organisation working across the globe to strengthen the fight against poverty, social injustice and natural disaster. Through the provision of self-sustaining development programmes, they aim to invest in real and effective solutions.

Established in 1984, Marmum Dairy Farm has substantially increased its share in the local and regional markets and consistently received recognition for maintaining high standards in technology and output. In addition to holding HACCP and Dubai Municipality food safety certification, Marmum was awarded Superbrand status for the year 2011-2012.
