In an exciting development for the broadcast industry, Thuraya Telecommunications Company, the leading international mobile satellite operator has once again confirmed heightened streaming speeds of 512 Kbps standard IP.
This enhanced performance proves that IP bonding is very effective over media broadcast solutions and simple to execute. The new streaming speeds were successfully recorded at a recent roadshow in Paris organized by Thuraya's media broadcasting partner, Geolink Satellite Services.
At the event, media customers from prominent news channels, news gatherers and radio stations witnessed live video transmission by coupling two Thuraya IP terminals using the ClipWay Software aggregating function. This resulted in registering speeds of up to 512 Kbps. IP bonding is done by linking two IP terminals together with a USB cable. The ClipWay Software is a media broadcast solution by Geolink.
Michel Notte, Media Development Manager at Geolink Satellite Services, said, "I am thrilled about the swift new speed we have achieved combining Thuraya IP with ClipWay. After seeing a live test showing 512K, the results are smooth and sharp. This new achievement is absolutely fantastic."
Thuraya's IP services can now be enjoyed at double the speed, so media teams can be the first to break news stories as they unfold. Furthermore, Thuraya IP's Asymmetric Streaming capability allows users to adjust speeds according to bandwidth usage, ensuring instant savings of up to 40% in comparison with other broadband solutions.
Fahad Kahoor, Thuraya's Director of Market Development, Enterprise, was pleased with the result of the IP bonding test, "Broadcasters attending the roadshow showed enormous interest in this new solution. The innovative and affordable Thuraya IP solution, which can be used in any climate, now allows media customers to complete filing stories even faster and more affordable."
Thuraya IP is the world's most compact and powerful satellite data terminal, delivering an ideal 384 Kbps streaming and 444 Kbps standard IP.
Thuraya offers solutions to meet the communications needs of businesses and individuals in a world where news is ever evolving, and where fast and reliable connectivity is an essential component in everyday life.
