The first day of the Harvey Nichols Summer Sale smashed all previous records, with all Harvey Nichols stores across the UK reporting a double-digit percentage increase upon last year’s figures.
While Manchester and Birmingham both clocked unprecedented first-day sales, the Harvey Nichols flagship store in Knightsbridge saw the highest sales ever recorded in the store’s 181 year history; with much-loved British brands including Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto and Jonathan Saunders on their way to selling out!
These record-breaking sales come on the back of the now-famous advertising campaign from DDB, which features otherwise presentable models with tell-tale wet patches, alongside the wryly dry strap-line: “The Harvey Nichols Sale. Try to contain your excitement”.
Paul Billingsley, Business Director at DDB commented, “Once again, Harvey Nichols has proved that stand-out creativity drives business results. To have achieved these sales figures in the current economic climate is a triumph of brave over beige.”
First day sales facts:
- In the Knightsbridge Menswear Department a single customer snapped up 21 units of Givenchy
- Stella McCartney and Chloe handbags sold out within 20 minutes of the Knightsbridge store opening
- Manchester first-day sales up 70% on 2011
